Our story began in Zambia, where a love for fabric and a simple sewing machine became the heart of Great North Bags. What started as a few handmade bags soon grew into something special — a small, family-run business built on creativity, care, and community.

Each bag was carefully cut, stitched, and finished by hand — no rush, no factory lines — just honest work and the joy of making something beautiful and useful. Over time, these bags found their way into homes and hands across Zambia, each one a little piece of our story.

When our family later moved to Hermanus, South Africa, a new chapter began. Inspired by the sea, the mountains, and the gentle pace of coastal life, Hamptons Bags was born — continuing the same handmade spirit in a new place.

Today, our daughter-in-law Hope still runs Great North Bags in Zambia at www.greatnorthbags.net , keeping the original dream alive, while Hamptons Bags carries that heritage forward here in Hermanus. Every bag we make — whether from the north or the coast — is created with love, patience, and purpose.
